The Sacramento Zoo

We have a zoo membership and had planned on taking the kids all summer long, but it didn't work out like that.  I was finally able to take them on their last day of summer vacation.  We spent a couple of hours looking at all the animals, playing on the playground, and they even got to feed a giraffe!

Archie is making a scary face because he wanted to be a "scary spider".

He also wanted to be a scary zoologist.

This was the best $6 ever spent!  How cool to be able to feed a giraffe!  The boys loved it.

Mason was afraid to turn away from the giraffe.  He thought it was going to take a bite out of him!

My sweet boys were protecting each other.

Zebras!

It's hard to tell, but there is an orangutan under that white sheet.  He was playing peek-a-boo with the boys.

Nevada County Fair

Petting the horses
A few weeks ago we went to the Nevada County Fair.  The boys had fun watching the cowboy show, riding the ferris wheel, playing carnival games, petting the animals, and they even got to see a baby chick coming out of its egg!  It was a fun night.

Petting the miniature donkeys.

Silly flower and bee.

They were impressed by this giant rabbit!

Feeding the cows

There was even a ball pit!  They spent a good half hour in there.

Find Mason!

Archie really wanted to ride the ferris wheel, so Max was the lucky one who got to take him on it.

While Archie and Max were on the ferris wheel, I took Mason to play some carnival games.  He ended up winning 5 goldfish!

Bridgeport

On the weekends we like to go explore our area for the best swimming spots.  So far, this place is our favorite.  We went there a couple of weekends ago and we have been wanting to go back ever since!  The water was beautiful and clear, but also slow-moving so we didn't have to worry about the kids.  There was a fun little rapid that someone set up that the kids went down over and over.  It was so fun and we can't wait to go back!

That's Archie under the water.

Archie's trying to see the fish under the water

The oldest single lane covered bridge in CA (or something like that).

They were trying to find bugs.

Mason going down the rapids.

Archie going down the rapids.

They loved it!

So much fun!

Archie wanted me to go down the rapids with him, but the tube wasn't quite big enough for both of us.  We wiped out. :)

They found a big frog!  Definitely the highlight of the day.

Archie's 4th Birthday

Brothers

Archie turned 4 on the 4th of July.  We were in Cedar City, UT because my family was having a reunion that weekend.  We spent the morning at their town parade.  It was a really fun parade and it even had an army tank.  The boys loved it!

My cousin, Lisa, made this amazing volcano cake.  Archie has been insisting we call him "Archer" lately (his given name), so when she went to put his name on the cake we asked him if he wanted "Archie" or "Archer".  He responded, "Archer Huss," so that's what he got. :)

It just wouldn't be an authentic picture of Archie if he was actually wearing pants.  This boy loves to be naked!

Our boys are growing up so fast!

He takes his job of opening presents very seriously.

Whenever I would ask him what he wanted for his birthday, he would always say a book light.  This is the moment he opened his book light.  I guess he liked it. :)

He was a little embarrassed that everyone was singing to him.

My baby is 4!
